An unspecified number of bandits have been killed by villagers around Kutigi town, the Headquarters of Lavun Local Government Area of Niger State.
A combined team of vigilante groups, local hunters and volunteers succeeded in neutralizing attempts by the gunmen to invade some communities.
Three members of the combined team lost their lives in the gunfire exchange with the bandits.

The gunmen stormed the villages of Bobogi, Lagun, Kuyegi, Zhiluko, as well as David and Zhikpa, in the early hours of Tuesday.
Eyewitnesses say the bandits, in their hundreds were forced to retreat.
