The Deputy Secretary General of the United Nations, Amina Mohammed, has commended the efforts of Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf in social development and promoting sustainable development goals in the state.
Mohammed expressed this when she visited the Governor to pay her condolences over the deaths of Kano State elder statesman, Aminu Dantata, and former President Muhammadu Buhari.
The Deputy Secretary General, who described the death of the elder statesmen as colossal, offered prayers for the peaceful and perpetual repose of their souls.

Highlighting the strategic goals of the United Nations, Mrs Mohammed commended the efforts of Kano State in addressing key items of the SDGs, while pledging the global body’s support for the state government in key areas.
The provision of solar-powered street lights in Kano, planting of trees, establishment of Kano disease control center, creation of a ministry of power and the repositioning of the state’s environmental and climate change sector, in line with UN’s climate action goals, were some of the issues Governor Yusuf highlighted while addressing the UN top official.
