Vice President Kashim Shettima has Departed Abuja for Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, where he’ll represent Nigeria at the 2nd United Nations Food Systems Summit.
The Summit, scheduled to hold from July 27 to 29, 2025, will bring together global leaders to discuss food system transformation.
At the summit, Senator Shettima will join discussions on advancing the coffee value chain and participate in roundtable meetings aimed at enhancing Nigeria’s food security efforts.

The event is crucial for sharing insights and strategies on building resilient food systems.
The summit’s goal is to reflect on progress made since the first UN Food Systems Summit in 2021 and accelerate commitments to sustainable food systems.
It’s an opportunity for global leaders to collaborate on solutions that promote food security and sustainability.

During the summit, Vice President Shettima will also participate in events highlighting real-world examples of food system transformations.
“This platform will allow Nigeria to showcase its efforts and learn from other countries’ experiences in improving food security and sustainability”.
