The West African Examinations Council, (WAEC), has announced plans to fully implement a hybrid model of computer-based testing, (CBT), and the traditional pen-and-paper option in its examinations.

The decision was announced at the 62nd Annual Meeting of the Nigeria National Committee of WAEC in Kaduna, following the successful trial of the hybrid approach, during the 2024 examinations.

The annual meeting brought together, education administrators and examiners from across Nigeria, to deliberate on key issues, and chart a path for improving examination processes and services.

Chairman of the Nigeria National Committee, WAEC, Binta Abdulkadir, represented by the ANCOPSS President, Mohammed Musa, reaffirmed the council’s dedication to advancing the educational goals of its member states.

She highlighted the integration of technology to improve examination processes and equip candidates for academic success.

Representing Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani, Deputy Governor Hadiza Balarabe, commended WAEC’s efforts to combat examination malpractice, through innovative measures.

She also reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to improving the quality of education in Kaduna State.

In recognition of excellence, the best-performing candidates in the 2024 WAEC School Examinations were honoured with meritorious awards.

WAEC assured stakeholders of its dedication to maintaining its position, as the foremost examination body in Africa, by upholding the integrity and standard of its processes.
