The Administrator of Rivers State, Vice Admiral Ibok Ibas (retired), says his government has made notable progress in restoring peace and stability to the politically troubled State with the support of the Federal government, security agencies, and the people’s collective will.
Briefing members of the Rivers State Caucus in the National Assembly on Thursday, Vice Admiral Ibas said his administration is working tirelessly with the Military, the Police and other security agencies to restore order and bring peace to the State, adding that his goal has been to create an environment where the people can live in safety and pursue their livelihood without fear.
Led by the Senator representing Rivers South-East Senatorial District, Barry Mpigi, members of the Rivers State Caucus in the National Assembly were at the Government House, Port Harcourt to meet with the new Administrator, Retired Vice Admiral Ibas on his appointment following the declaration of a State of Emergency that saw Governor Siminalayi Fubara; his deputy, Ngozi Ordu and the entire House of Assembly, suspended from office.
Apart from congratulating the Administrator on his recent appointment, their visit was to also assure him of their support.

The Federal lawmakers want the Rivers State Administrator to use his wealth of experience to bring about a positive transformation that would usher in a fresh aura of peace and a fresh dawn of public order and public safety based on respect for law and order.
Briefing the lawmakers, the Rivers State Administrator said his government has recorded notable progress in restoring peace and stability in the State.

He added that his administration is determined to build the bonds of unity, peace and tolerance in Rivers State.
Beyond peacebuilding, Vice Admiral Ibok Ibas assured that his administration is focused on the economic stability and development of the State.
The Administrator also used the occasion of the visit to solicit the continued support of the National Assembly to achieve the tasks of building a safe and peaceful Rivers State.
