Wife of the Rivers State Governor, Lady Valerie Fubara has assured that her husband’s administration will continue to support initiatives that will help lift the majority of the people out of poverty.

Speaking when she flagged off the distribution of rice and a cash token under the Renewed Hope Initiative of the wife of the President, to indigent households across the 23 Local Government Areas of the State, Lady Valerie said the Rivers State Government will continue to give priority to the welfare of.the needy in the society, pointing out that governance is about making life meaningful for the people.

Mrs Fubara who personally supervised the distribution of thousands of bags of rice to indigent households across the 23 Council Areas, noted that the gesture is a programme of the Renewed Hope Initiative, a pet project of the wife of the Nigerian President, Oluremi Tinubu, in collaboration with the Rivers State Government.

The package, which also comes with a cash token, is aimed at assisting the needy, especially at a time the economy is biting hard with the majority of the people are increasingly finding it difficult to survive.

Lady Fubara explained that her husband’s administration will support any initiative that will help ameliorate the economic hardship suffered by the people.

She further disclosed that the Rivers State government will, on its part, implement policies that will empower the poor and low-income earners in the State.

Lady Valerie Fubara also used the opportunity to call on well-meaning individuals and corporate bodies to support initiatives that will help improve the lot of the majority of the citizens who are poor.
