The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has attributed the persistent failure of streetlights in Abuja to the actions of those he described as “political contractors,” despite what he said was substantial monthly budgets allocated for maintenance.
Speaking at the launch of the “Light Up Abuja” project, which involves the installation of integrated solar lighting in several districts of Nigerian capital city, and along major highways, the FCT Minister assured residents that the issue of streetlight blackouts would be permanently addressed, upon the project’s completion.
