Kurotimi Abaka and Ukpeseraye Ese are the champions of the national cycling road championship in the senior men’s and women’s category
Precious Etim and Esther Sunday won the junior male and female categories in the one-day championship in Port Harcourt.
The road championship took the cyclists through some roads in Port Harcourt, the Rivers state capital.
The national cycling road championship was part of activities lined up to Herald the incoming administration in Rivers State and an opportunity for cyclists in the country to ride on the 12 bridges constructed by the Nyesom Wike-led administration in less than 5 years.

The senior male and female cyclists covered a distance of 144kms and 96kms respectively while the junior cyclists covered a distance of 48kms.
Winners in the one-day event described the national championship as highly competitive.
They said the 600 thousand naira prize money and 300 thousand naira for senior and junior categories were the first time cyclists would get such a reward and applauded Governor Wike for bankrolling the championship.
President of the Nigerian Cycling Federation, Giandomenico Massari, commended the Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike for his sponsorship of the championship.
Governor Nyesom Wike assured the cycling community of his continued support.
The high point of the championship was the presentation of trophies to the winners and awards to distinguished personalities who have contributed to the growth of sports in the state
