The Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development Imaan Sulaiman- Ibrahim has called for Swift investigation of persons linked to the sexual violence in Ozoro community, Isoko North Local Government Area of Delta State, describing the incidents as disturbing and unacceptable.
In a statement issued on friday the Minister said the alleged assault and harassment of women during activities linked to a local festival violate fundamental human rights and undermine the dignity and safety of victims.

She stressed that no cultural or traditional practice can justify sexual violence, noting that Nigeria’s laws, including the Violence Against Persons (Prohibition) Act, clearly prohibit all forms of abuse and harmful practices. It added that perpetrators must be thoroughly investigated and held accountable, emphasizing that sexual assault remains a serious criminal offence under the law.
The Minister acknowledged the swift response of the Delta State Police Command, the Ministry commended the Commissioner of Police, Aina Adesola, for initiating action on the matter.
