Women Affairs Minister Flags Off Skill Acquisition Programme in Kano

Minister of Women Affairs, Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, has launched the MOWA-SARA skills acquisition project in Karaye local government area of Kano State aimed at empowering women to be self-sufficient.

During the unveiling exercise, the minister said the initiative aligns with actualising the mandate of the Ministry on economic empowerment of women, targeting five hundred thousand women across the country.

She noted that the empowerment focuses on key areas such as vocational skills, access to market, digital skills for beginners and business entrepreneurship.

Equipped with the basic amenities such as water, light, roads, the center also has computers for ICT training, industrial dehydrating machines, grinding machines, shredders, and slicers, all used for training purposes.

The Minister further said the project is a demonstration of President Bola Tinubu’s willingness and commitment to ensuring that women are empowered across the nation.

She admonished the Karaye community to protect what the Federal Government has given to them and encouraged beneficiaries of the training not to take for granted the skills they have acquired.

The training was in partnership with Wema Bank Plc.
