Women Affairs Ministry reaffirms commitment to Chibok Girls’ rehabilitation

The Minister of Women Affairs, Imaan Sulaima -Ibrahim has reiterated the Ministry’s commitment to sustaining the rehabilitation of the Chibok girls.

During her visit to the American University AUN in Yola, Adamawa State, where 68 survivors are undergoing rehabilitation, the Minister highlighted the girls’ strength in the face of unimaginable challenges.

The Minister stated that the visit aims to evaluate the progress and success of the girls in partnership with AUN, and to present materials and cash gifts to the girls.

The Women Affairs Minister pledged the administration’s unwavering dedication to the welfare of all citizens, especially women, children, and vulnerable groups, noting that there is a significant increase in the Ministry’s budget by nearly 1,000 percent to enable expanded support initiatives.

For his part, the University’s President, Professor DeWayne Frazier, described the girls as the most intelligent and strong women, saying that the Institution is proud to raise them in Adamawa State.

The Chibok girls were among those kidnapped by Boko Haram insurgents from the Government Girls Secondary School in Chibok, Borno State in 2014.
