No fewer than 20 women groups in Niger State, under the Village Savings and Loans Associations (VSLA), have received grains processing machines for their outstanding performance.
While receiving the machines, the beneficiaries said they would ease their farming activities and enhance their livelihoods under the current economic challenges.

The 20 women groups out of the 2,000 set up by the National Association of Nigerian Traders in collaboration with the Alliance for Green Revolution in Africa, AGRA consortium. Cooperative groups were outstanding in managing their members.
The project is aimed at Improving farmer resilience and upscaling productivity, income and livelihood in rice, maize, soybean, cowpea and vegetable value chains and empowering small holder farmers to contribute to food security.

The commissioner for Agriculture, Bawa Bosso said the state is committed to ensuring that poverty is reduced through job creation for small holder farmers.
