Women in Jos, the Plateau State capital, North-Central Nigeria have come out to protest against non-distribution of palliatives as the State prepares for another lockdown to stop the spread of Coronavirus.
The women who were not observing social distancing claim they were promised palliatives by the Plateau State Government on Friday and they gathered at the Jos Government College but no palliative came their way.
They say after waiting for hours, they were told to come back on Saturday and on getting there this morning, they found the venue of the collection empty with no government official to distribute any palliatives to them.
The women carrying green leaves in their thousands have blocked the popular Zaria Road that connects to one of the major food markets in Farin Gada insisting that they won’t leave until the State Government brings the palliatives and distributes to them.
