Women Protest In Port Harcourt Against Kidnappings In Rivers Waterways

RIVERS

Following the recent kidnap of thirteen passengers including four students who were on their Way to write exams along the Bille-portharcourt waterways, women from the community have Sent a Save our souls SOS messeage to relevant authorities to forestall further attacks on passengers and Residents of their community.

The women who dreseed in all Black attire matched through the Streets of old Portharcourt Township Down to the Government House to register their displeasure.

In recent times there have been several reports of kidnapping and criminality along waterways in Rivers State which has led to several casualties as most victims died while waiting for ransom to be paid by their loved ones.This has negatively affected the economic activities along the waterways as most Business Men and women as well as commuters now live in fear.To the women, the last incident was one too many and as such called for urgent attention.

The protesters stopped over at the State police headquarters Moscow Road and terminated at government house Portharcourt where they were addressed by the camp commandant government house who gave them the Assurance of redoubled security presence along the waterways in the State.

The women vowed to repeat the process If nothing is done to douse the tension created by the incessant attacks along waterways especially the Bille-portharcourt waterways.
