Over Eighty Million Dollars has been approved by the World Bank for the Bauchi State Government for an eighteen-month work plan aimed at addressing the low level of education among females between the ages of 10 and 20 years old.
This was made public during the first quarterly meeting by the state steering committee for adolescents girls initiative for learning and empowerment (AGILE) in Bauchi state.
The work plan and approval according to the chairperson of the committee Jamila Dahiru is coming at a time adolescent girl education in the North is becoming a serious concern.
She said the project is in three components, adding that approved funds by the World Bank, hope to address critical binding constraints adolescent girls face, provide conducive learning environment, provide school development plans, improve social norms, promote retention and completion of girls education as highlighted.
According to Jamila Dahiru $5million has so far been released as the first tranche of payment of the project.
