In 2022, the Nigerian Government signed an agreement with the World Bank through the Food and Agricultural Organization, to restore over one million degraded lands to be used for agricultural purposes.
Out of the one million hectares of land being proposed, ACReSAL Nigeria is saddled with the task of restoring about 350,000 hectares of land.
To get this done, drivers from 11 Northern states converged on Kano where they are receiving training on basic operations and maintenance of the machine called the Delfino that will be used for the purpose.
Participants say the training is an eye opener to them, especially with its positive multiplier effects as the Kano State Government plans to empower local farmers through this process to ensure large food production.
With implementation by ACReSAL Nigeria, it is hoped that the entire process will contribute to food security and help in environmental protection through friendly climate practices.
