The Federal Government, in partnership with the World Bank, has unveiled plans to launch the Land for Growth programme, a nationwide initiative aimed at reforming land administration, improving titling and registration processes, and unlocking the economic potential of land assets across Nigeria.
Director of Lands and Urban Development, in the Federal Ministry of Lands and Housing Development, Alabi Collins, disclosed this during a visit to Sir Kashim Ibrahim House in Kaduna.
The proposed Land for Growth programme is designed to transform land administration in Nigeria by introducing a uniform and standardised operational process across states.
The initiative, to be implemented in collaboration with the Federal and State Governments with support from the World Bank, seeks to address long-standing challenges in land titling, registration and documentation.
Collins, who led the delegation, said the programme is aimed at reforming land governance through improved titling systems, transparency and efficient documentation.
Receiving the delegation on behalf of Governor Uba Sani, Deputy Governor, Dr. Hadiza Balarabe, said the selection of Kaduna as a pilot state reflects ongoing reforms, particularly the digitalisation of land processes through the Kaduna Geographic Information Service, KADGIS.
She commended the progress made so far but noted that additional support would be required to further strengthen and expand the system.
Officials say the programme is expected to enhance revenue generation for government while enabling citizens to properly document and utilise their land assets.
With plans to launch the programme in the second quarter of the year, discussions are ongoing with participating states, including Kaduna, to ensure smooth implementation and maximum impact.
