BAUCHI

Children in Bauchi State, North east Nigeria, have joined their counterparts across the world to commemorate the 2024 Wold Children’s Day.

They are also advocating the return of school feeding programme, free transportation, and decry the persistent bullying and corporal punishments in schools, which according to them, have contributed to increased school dropouts.

The children advocated the demands before the Bauchi State Governor’s wife, Aisha Bala, whom they believe can help them champion their needs before her husband, the Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed.

The governor’s wife, Aisha Bala, appreciated the children and assured them of her support on their demands.

She said already her NGO has set up a committee on sexual and gender-based violence which is yielding results.

The governor’s wife, donated school bags, shoes and writing materials to the children.

According to the organisers of the 2024 Children’s Day in Bauchi, the children are representing children under the five states of the Bauchi Unicef Field Office, which include Adamawa, Bauchi, Gombe, Plateau and Taraba.
