This result raises fresh concerns about the team’s poor preparations heading into the qualifying series.

Despite a 16-point boost off the bench from Morris Udeze, the Nigerian side once again fell short.

Guinea outclassed D’Tigers with three players hitting double figures, Souleymane Boum dominated the floor with a game-high 21 points.

Meanwhile, Ousmane Drame punished Nigeria on the boards, pulling down 12 rebounds and exposing the team’s lack of coordination and weak defensive setup.

Unconvincing defensive rebounding and careless ball handling repeatedly undermined Nigeria’s play — issues analysts say stem from inadequate preparation and limited team cohesion

Guinea took advantage, controlling all four quarters and comfortably sealing the win.

The loss is Nigeria’s second straight defeat following their 78–88 slump to hosts Tunisia in their opening Group C game.

Guinea now leads the group with two wins, while Nigeria sits in third place with two points.

D’Tigers will hope to salvage some pride when they face Rwanda tomorrow as they wrap up their first-window group campaign — but much of the spotlight remains on the team’s poor build-up and preparationfor these crucial qualifiers.

The FIBA Basketball World Cup 2027 is scheduled to take place in Doha, Qatar.
