As Nigeria joins the rest of the international community in preparation for the 2020 World Food Day celebration, farmers across the country have expressed optimism that with the ongoing farm palliatives distribution, the country will achieve food security in no time.

The farmers were speaking at an event organized to mark the World Food Day celebration in Abuja where the All Farmers Association of Nigeria distributed inputs and equipment to state chapters of the All Farmers Association of Nigeria.

Following the recent demand made by farmers across the country on the urgent need for government to intervene and support them with inputs that would help in cushioning the negative effects of Covid-19 pandemic on food production to avert hunger as looming food crisis threatens, All Farmers Association of Nigeria on Wednesday, distributed palliatives in form of farm equipment and inputs to its state chapters of All Farmers Association of Nigeria.

While encouraging the farmers on their unending efforts to ensure food is available on the tables of Nigerians, Kano State Deputy Governor, Nasir Gawuna says the country has no choice other than to support massive food production, expand agricultural programmes and ensure food availability, accessibility, and affordability that would also lead to massive jobs and wealth creation.

The event was organized by the association as part of the activities to mark the 2020 World Food Day celebration.
