Oyo State Ministry of Health has called on residents to ensure a clean environment void of mosquito breeding sites to avoid malaria as the rainy season intensifies.
The commissioner for health, Dr Taiwo Ladipo made this call in Ibadan to commemorate the year 2023 World Malaria Day.
This day is set aside by WHO to raise global awareness of efforts to finally eradicate malaria, a disease caused by a parasite transmitted through mosquito bites.
The theme for the 2023 celebration is ‘Time to deliver zero malaria: invest, innovate, implement’ with the slogan: Act Now. A call to accelerate high-impact innovations, not just in diagnostics and treatments, but also in service delivery.

Following the malaria prevalence in Nigeria, Oyo state ministry of Health says, it has made great strides in the control and elimination of malaria.
Oyo State Government, however, advised pregnant women to access care at health facilities by early registration and ensure that children under the age of 5 sleep in treated mosquito nets.
Malaria commodities were presented to private healthcare facilities as part of efforts towards achieving zero malaria in the state.
