Secondary School Teachers in Kwara State under the aegis of Academic Staff Union of Secondary Schools (ASSUSS) have said their plan to pull out of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) was due to the difference in their aspirations and those of their employers.
The Chairman of the Union, Jimoh Daudu disclosed this in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital at a lecture organized to mark the 2020 World Teachers’ Day.
Daudu maintained that their membership of the (NUT) was a marriage of inconvenience, hence the need to pull out of the arrangement to pursue their agitations and demand their peculiar needs.
The ASSUS leader however urged the Kwara State Government to emulate Benue and Oyo State Governments where the two unions have been recognized to operate separately.
Daudu also added that membership withdrawal forms were being compiled for submission at the appropriate place in the state.
