Nigerians coughing severely for more than two weeks have been advised to subject themselves to a test on tuberculosis.

The advice was given during a public sensitization on the sideline of the World Tuberculosis Day in Kano.
With Nigerians joining other parts of the world to mark the anti-tuberculosis day, there is a need for the people to be aware that having tuberculosis is not a death sentence.
As part of efforts to sensitise the people on the dangers, causes and prevention of tuberculosis, the Kano State Ministry Of Health, in collaboration with various tuberculosis campaign groups, organized an outreach in Dakata, a densely populated community in the state.
Members of the host community were also tested for tuberculosis and given the right counsel.

World Tuberculosis Day is observed every year to build public awareness about the global epidemic of tuberculosis and how to prevent it.
