Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello has called on security agencies to urgently wake up to their responsibility and arrest those who attacked his convoy while returning to Lokoja on Saturday.

Yahaya Bello who confirmed the attack on his convoy in Lokoja, called on his supporters to remain calm and charged security agents to wake up to their responsibilities and arrest the perpetrators.

Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello was returning to Lokoja on Saturday to participate in the unveiling ceremony of the Deputy Governorship candidate of the All Progressive Congress, in the November election, Joel Salifu, when his convoy was allegedly attacked.

While at the event, the information commissioner, Kingsley Fanwo issued a Press Release, wherein he accused the Social Democratic Party’s candidate, Muritala Ajaka of being responsible for the attack.

Not too long after the press statement was circulated, Yahaya Bello confirmed the development when he spoke in riddles.

The governor urged the residents to remain peaceful, as security agents will do their job.

In a swift reaction, the SDP Governorship Campaign Council in a statement signed by the Director of Media, Faruk Adejo, described the government’s stance as false.

Faruk Adejoh alleged that the Governor’s sponsored thugs shot at their convoy while they were heading to Idah on a courtesy call, with a call on the Federal Government to call the governor to order, ahead of the election.
