The full take-off of the Hydro-Electric Power Producing Areas Development Commission, HYPPADEC will address the ecological challenges facing riverine communities in the area.

One of the converners, Salisu Sabo said that former President Goodluck Jonathan had in 2010 assented to the bill for the establishment of the Commission after it was passed by the National Assembly.

Sabo explained that the youths of the HYPPADEC member-states will no doubt discharge their responsibilities as enshrined in the Act establishing the Commission
The affected riverine communities have for decades battled with loss of lives and properties due to ecological challenges especially floods in states like Niger, Benue, Kogi, Kwara, Kebbi and Taraba among others.
