The Police Service Commission has intensified efforts to boost youth participation in the ongoing Nigeria Police recruitment exercise, with a strong appeal to young people in Ogun State and across the South-West to take advantage of the opportunity.
A delegation led by retired Deputy Inspector-General of Police and Commissioner representing the South-West in the Commission, Taiwo Lakanu, took the sensitization campaign to Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.
At the State Police Headquarters in Eleweran, where the recruitment exercise is currently underway, the team encouraged eligible youths to enlist, noting that improved welfare packages and better career prospects now make policing a more attractive profession.
The delegation also visited the palace of the Olowu of Owu, Oba Saka Matemilola, seeking the support of traditional rulers in mobilizing young people across communities to participate in the exercise.
In his response, the monarch assured that traditional institutions would play an active role in encouraging youths to join the police.
The Commission says the awareness campaign will be extended to other traditional, religious, and community leaders to ensure wider participation and help Ogun State meet its recruitment quota, as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen internal security nationwide.
