Yuletide: Kogi CP Orders Watertight Security, Deploys Operational Assets

The Kogi State Commissioner of Police, Bethrand Onuoha, says the Command has adopted a comprehensive crime prevention and control strategies to ensure adequate security of life and property throughout the Yuletide.

The Kogi police chief who said this while briefing members of the Command Management Team and the Tactical Commanders at the Command Headquarters, Lokoja, noted that he has ordered a watertight Security across the State throughout the Yuletide and beyond.

In a statement by the command’s public relations officer, SP William Ovye Aya the CP further assured the people of the State of sustained efforts by the Command in synergy with other Security Agencies to fight Crimes and criminalities as well as improve public safety and security across the State.

The CP therefore charged all the Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) and their supervisory Area Commanders to deploy human and other operational assets to ensure confidence building and crime prevention patrols on major highways, residential and, vulnerable points, places of worship and other places of interest.

He also charged them to carry out undercover operations in black spots, flash points and other vulnerable criminal spots to prevent all forms of criminal activities across the State and to make sure that detection of crimes are prompt to serve as effective deterrent to all criminals.

The CP however appealed to the people of Kogi State to remain security conscious throughout the Yuletide and to report any suspicious movements or activities within their communities.

“The public has a critical role to play in sustaining the peace in their community through effective collaboration with the Police and other Security Agencies by way of sharing information and intelligence that will assist in crime control and management.”

The CP also called on Parents to caution their Children and Wards against playing knockouts, as anybody caught causing trouble will be arrested and prosecuted accordingly.

The Commissioner of Police advised all Law-abiding citizens of the state to go about their lawful businesses without fear, warning that the Command will not hesitate to apply the full wrath of the Law against persons who take Laws into their hands.
