The Zamfara State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has faulted Governor Dauda Lawal, over his claim of knowing bandits’ movement and every bandit kingpin and their gangs operating in the state, but he refuses to fight them or give intelligence to security agencies.

The party, in a statement by its publicity secretary, Yusuf Idris, said if Governor Lawal knows where the bandits are, why did he allow them to continue to kill and abduct innocent citizens of the state?

The statement claimed that the governor made the revelation during a recent media chat with local media stations in Gusau, the Zamfara State capital.

The party said that as the Chief Security Officer of the state, the governor has consistently refused to take proactive measures against them.

It added that the governor had forgotten that he had set up, as well as armed the state’s community protection guard, whom only him has the power to direct to the bandits’ hideouts.

The party similarly said, while boasting that he bought and distributed 150 vehicles to security agencies, Mr Dauda failed to also say that not all the vehicles were given and that they were given not as operational vehicles but as mobility to the benefiting agencies and without any further support such as fuelling and maintenance allowance.

Recall that while celebrating his hundred days in office as governor, Bello Matawalle distributed 200 fully equipped operational vehicles to all security agencies in the state and backed it up with allowances to ease their logistics.

The party wonders whether Governor Dauda reviews his campaign videos to see his politicisation of insecurity in the state in all the towns and villages he visited, or whether he thinks that all the governors he campaigned for have control over any of the security agencies.

The APC therefore urged Governor Lawal to concentrate on delivering his campaign promises of ending banditry in two months, and stop apportioning blame on anybody.

It says that he should note that now is the time for action, not media propaganda.
