About 10 persons have been killed by suspected bandits at Janbako village in Maradun Local Government Area of Zamfara state.
A resident of the village, Ibrahim Janbako, said the bandits who were over a hundred came to the village on 50 motorcycles at about 10:25 am on Sunday, shooting sporadically.
Janbako further said that the bandits killed ten persons while the vigilantes neutralized five of the bandits.
The bandits however, took away their casualties to the forest.
According to Janbako, “As I am speaking with you now, we have buried six people and we are preparing for the burial of the remaining four killed by the bandits. We asked vigilantes to guard our cemetery to enable us to bury our people who were killed by the bandits.”
He narrated that, after sighting the bandits coming, the villagers ran into the bush for safety and as a result, the bandits shot and killed ten members of the village.
Janbako appreciated the prompt response of the security operatives, particularly the military and police, who upon receiving the distress call, responded swiftly to foil the attack.
