The Zamfara State Police Command says it has foiled an attempted invasion of Maru town by armed bandits who planned to carry out a mass abduction in the early hours of Sunday, December 28, 2025.
In a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Yazid Abubakar, the command said it acted on credible and timely intelligence.
According to the statement, a joint security team comprising the police, the military, Community Protection Guards, and local vigilante groups swiftly engaged the attackers, forcing them to flee with suspected gunshot injuries.
DSP Yazid Abubakar confirmed that no casualties were recorded and no abductions took place during the operation.
He added that security has since been reinforced in Maru town and surrounding areas to prevent further attacks.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Zamfara State Command, CP Ibrahim Maikaba, has reassured residents of the command’s commitment to protecting lives and property, while urging members of the public to continue cooperating with security agencies by providing timely information.
