Suspected terrorists have reportedly abducted a housewife, Aisha Suleiman, and her 12-year-old daughter, Khadija Mahmood, in the Damban Area of Gusau, Zamfara State.

The husband and father of the two victims, Salisu Isah, confirmed the incident to ait.live correspondent via telephone.

He narrated that the suspected terrorists stormed the residence of his father-in-law at about midnight, bearing deadly weapons, and forced their way into the residence, where they first seized the mobile phones of those who were in the house at the time, in the Damban Area of Gusau.

The suspected terrorists thereafter whisked away Aisha Suleiman, who is a staff member of Damban Government Hospital, and her daughter Khadija Mahmood to an unknown destination.

Isah disclosed that the abductors have contacted him and are demanding N50 million as ransom, and if he fails, they will sell off the victims to another terror group.

He said they are in talks with the abductors to get them to reduce the ransom, and to ensure the safe return of the victims.

When asked whether they informed the security agencies, Isah said those who were around alerted the police about the incident.

He wants the security agencies to beef up security within the area to protect citizens against the suspected terrorists in the state.

Efforts to reach the police to confirm the incident were unsuccessful, as the Police Public Relations Officer of the Zamfara State Command, Assistant Superintendent Yazid Abubakar, did not respond to calls put across to him.
