The Zamfara State Chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, has concluded its annual interfaith prayer session, calling on God to intervene in Nigeria’s growing security challenges and to guide the nation toward good governance as the journey to 2026 gathers momentum.
The prayer session followed six days of intense fasting and supplication by Christians across the state and was brought to a close at the ECWA Bishara Church in Gusau.
The prayer session is an annual tradition observed by the Christian Association of Nigeria as a spiritual way of ushering in a new year and recommitting the nation to God.
Participants drawn from different Christian denominations gathered under the umbrella of CAN, Zamfara State Chapter, turning out in large numbers despite being a minority in a predominantly Muslim state.
Many of the faithful say they believe prayers remain a powerful tool capable of addressing Nigeria’s pressing challenges, particularly insecurity, hunger, and the need for accountable leadership.
They also stressed that national progress can only be achieved when Nigerians come together, regardless of religion, political affiliation, ethnicity, or region, to seek peace and unity.
Highlight of the Zamfara CAN Annual Week of Prayer 2026 was marked by worship and song ministrations, centered on the theme: “O Lord, Enlarge My Coast,” symbolizing hope, growth, and renewed national purpose.
