Zamfara State High Court has given the Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resources two days to produce fifty-eight tractors or face contempt of court charge.

The high court gave the order while delivering a ruling on the mandamus application filed by one Kabiru Dumburu, to compel Justice Mukhtar of the State high court 3 to sign the application for the sale of the properties which he has not signed till date.

The presiding judge of high court 2, Justice Bello Shinkafi granted the application compelling Justice Mukhtar of High Court 3 to sign forthwith the order to allow for the sale of the movable properties attached to satisfy the debt.

Counsel to the complaint, Barrister Musbau Kamaudeen said while the case was pending in court, his client was reliably informed that the 58 tractors kept at the State Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources have been moved from the ministry by the serving commissioner and other persons, an allegation the respondent did not deny.

Barrister Kamaudeen explained that his client had supplied the Zamfara State Government one thousand, five hundred motorcycles twelve years ago and that the money for the motorcycles was deducted from the beneficiaries, but the Zamfara State Government has refused to pay his client which informed filing the suit.

Counsel to the respondent declined to comment on the outcome of the State High Court 2 ruling on the application compelling Justice Mukhtar to sign the application for the sale of the vehicles, to satisfy the debt.

The Zamfara State High Court 3 had delivered a judgement in 2009 ordering the State Government to pay the debt of N211million to one Kabiru Dumburu.

The window given to the respondent to appeal the judgement had expired.
