The Wife of the Zamfara State Governor, Huriyya Dauda Lawal, has advocated for strengthening local food systems, empowering smallholder farmers, and improving nutrition outcomes for women and children.
The First Lady made this known while participating in a high-level stakeholders’ meeting held at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, marking the inauguration of the Board of Trustees and the official launch of the National Community Food Bank Trust Fund.
In a statement by her Press Secretary, Rabi Yusuf, the initiative spearheaded by Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu represents a strategic national response to food insecurity and a commitment to improving access to nutritious food for vulnerable populations across the country.

Huriyya Dauda Lawal expressed confidence in the initiative’s potential to drive meaningful grassroots transformation through strategic partnerships, public awareness, and targeted interventions aimed at reducing malnutrition.

She emphasized that the initiative is timely, impactful, and responsive to the current socioeconomic realities faced by many Nigerian households.
She noted that the programme goes beyond addressing hunger, as it seeks to restore dignity and foster hope through a sustainable, community-driven framework.
Huriyya Dauda Lawal also reaffirmed Zamfara State’s readiness to collaborate, adopt best practices, and scale innovative programmes that will deliver lasting socio-economic benefits to its people.
