Zamfara Governor, Dauda Lawal, has restated that his administration’s vision for public service reform goes beyond infrastructure.

The governor made the statement during the inauguration of the renovated block ‘C’ of the JB Yakubu State Secretariat Complex in Gusau, the state capital.

Governor Dauda Lawal, during the inauguration of the Block C of the JB Yakubu State Secretariat Complex, emphasised that the event symbolises the unveiling of a renovated building as well as his administration’s commitment to enhancing public service, and fostering a supportive work environment for the state civil servants.

He noted that the buildings, constructed over two decades ago, had significantly deteriorated, due to years of neglect, and upon assuming office in 2023, his administration prioritised rehabilitating the State Secretariat, which he described as critical structures, as part of its broader effort to modernise public service infrastructure.

Lawal said that beyond the physical transformation, what is being witnessed is a clear demonstration of his administration’s resolve, to strengthen the institutional governance framework, through meaningful investments in the civil service.

The Secretary to the Zamfara State Government, Abubakar Nakwada, lauded Governor Dauda Lawal’s efforts at the massive infrastructure constructed and renovated within his two years in office, especially the JB Yakubu Secretariat, housing the SSG’s office, which has been given a new lease of life.

The Zamfara State administration’s vision for public service reform goes beyond infrastructure, but recognised that motivation and professional civil service are the backbone of good governance, which informed the settlement of the backlog of gratuity arrears of over ₦13 billion inherited from previous administrations.
