Zamfara State Governor Bello Mohammed says his administration’s call on the people to acquire firearms is to enable them to complement the efforts of the security forces in the ongoing war against the terrorists.

The governor, who said this in the state capital Gusau, during the inauguration of four special committees, added that in recent weeks, the state has witnessed terror attacks in parts of the state, especially in Bukkuyum, Gusau and Gummi Local Government Areas.
He said his administration is committed to exploring strategies to crush the security challenges posed by violent criminals .

The governor also acknowledged the efforts of security forces to tackle the prevailing insecurity but said their efforts were hampered by inadequate manpower and weapons, which resulted in his call to the people to get their own weapons and defend themselves.
