Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, has received another major recognition, emerging as the 2025 Outstanding Project Governor of the Year.
The award, presented by New Telegraph Newspapers at a ceremony in Lagos, is seen as recognition of both completed projects and the tangible impact of governance on lives across Zamfara State.

According to a statement by the Governor’s spokesperson, Sulaiman Bala Idris, the honour was conferred by the newspaper’s Board of Editors in acknowledgment of Governor Lawal’s transformative strides in key sectors. These include sweeping reforms in education, urban renewal initiatives, and the provision of basic amenities aimed at improving living standards and promoting sustainable development.

Beyond infrastructure, the human impact of the administration’s policies also featured prominently.

The award committee highlighted the governor’s decisive intervention in clearing a 13-year backlog of civil service gratuities valued at over ₦16 billion, restoring financial relief and dignity to retired workers.
The administration was also commended for settling more than three years of outstanding WAEC and NECO examination fees, enabling thousands of students to continue their education without disruption.

Receiving the award, Governor Lawal described the recognition as both humbling and motivating. He dedicated the honour to the people of Zamfara State, noting that it would serve as a morale boost to intensify efforts toward delivering more impactful projects and meaningful interventions across the state.
