Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal

Governor Dauda Lawal is set to travel to the United Kingdom for a two-day strategic governance workshop hosted by Coventry University.

The governor will attend a high-level session on strategic governance and resilience as part of his administration’s broader efforts to improve development outcomes in Zamfara State.

According to a statement issued by his spokesperson, Suleman Idris, the workshop organised by the Centre for Resilient Business and Society will take place on March 30 and 31, 2026, at Coventry University.

The programme according to the statement is supported under the United Kingdom Research and Innovation, UKRI Institutional Support framework, reflecting a shared commitment to advancing research-driven solutions for governance, resilience, and societal development in Zamfara State.

The workshop is expected to bring together global scholars, policymakers, and governance experts to explore strategies for building resilient institutions and addressing societal challenges through data-driven approaches.

Key sessions during the workshop will cover topics such as resilient leadership in dynamic and resource-limited settings, financial resilience, public sector innovation, managing change, and ethical data use in governance.

The governor will be accompanied by a high-ranking delegation, including the Secretary to the State Government, commissioners, special advisers, and the Executive Secretary of the Zamfara Information Technology Development Agency, ZITDA.

As part of the visit, Governor Lawal and his team are also expected to hold an interactive session with postgraduate research students on the theme: “The Role of Research in Policymaking: Driving Strategic and Resilient Governance Lessons from the Six-Point Rescue Agenda.”
