Zamfara Govt. Procures 150 Electricity Transformers, Distributes To 14 LGAs

Electricity transformers have been distributed to seventy-six communities in the fourteen Local Government Areas of Zamfara State.

They have been in blackout for several years as a result of lack of access to transformers.

Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal who distributed the transformers in Gusau, the State capital, said that his administration had procured 150 transformers of various capacities, to light up the rural communities, and boost the socioeconomic development of the people.

Seventy-six of Zamfara State communities without power had approached the Zamfara State Government and requested for the transformers.

The state government, under the leadership of Governor Dauda Lawal purchased 54 transformers of 500 by 11 KVA, 37,300 by 11 KVA, 24,500 by 33 KVA and 5,300 by 33KVA for the affected communities.

Governor Dauda Lawal also assured communities in Birnin Magaji, Kaura Namoda, Shinkafi and Zurmi Local Government Areas that Electricity would be restored to them, after the Eid-el fitri celebrations, as part of the administration’s commitment to light up communities, and enhance economic activities.

The Zamfara State Governor highlighted the significance of electricity in stimulating economic development, and directed the Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company, (KEDCO) to install the transformers for the benefiting communities.
