The Zamfara State Government has warned media practitioners, especially social media handlers, that it will not tolerate unprofessional reportage of the security situation in the state.

The Commissioner for Information, Ibrahim Dosara, gave the warning during a joint press briefing with the police and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, at the Zamfara State Police Command in Gusau, the state capital.

He said since the inception of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP administration, and the introduction of amnesty to bandits, it has brought incessant killings, kidnapping, cattle rustling, and attacks of communities, to the barest minimum, and the return of peace in the state.

The Commissioner, however, expressed concern that some media practitioners, especially social media, are undermining the efforts of security operatives and other relevant stakeholders, to ensure peace and stability returns to Zamfara State.

He said the state security council has directed security agencies to monitor the conduct of media practitioners in the state, and track down anyone engaged in unprofessional reportage, adding that culpable persons or establishments will be dealt with decisively.
