The absence of the presiding judge, Justice Bello Shinkafi in court, has stalled the judgement in the suit instituted by the dethroned Emir of Maru Emirate in Zamfara State, Abubakar Ibrahim against the Inspector General of Police, IGP and five others.
The five others in the suit were the immediate past Secretary to the Zamfara State Government, Bala Maru, the State Director, Department of State Services, DSS, Commissioner of Police and the Director-General Department of State Services, DSS.
The dethroned emir had filed a suit at the Federal High Court, Gusau, which was later transferred by Justice Fatima Aminu to Zamfara State High Court, challenging the infringement of his fundamental human rights, unlawful arrest, detention and defamation of character.
He is also demanding N6.5 billion as damages.
The presiding judge, Justice Bello Shinkafi had adjourned the judgement last Tuesday to Wednesday, 11th August 2021, because the judge was not ready.

The judge was however absent from court on Wednesday, because he was said to be indisposed.
Counsel to the dethroned emir, Sam Anosike said, a new date for the judgement would be communicated later to all parties involved in the matter.
The Emir of Maru Emirate, Abubakar Ibrahim, was on October 2019, was suspended and later removed by Governor Bello Mohammed’s administration, for alleged complicity in the insecurity bedevilling the state.
He was detained for 11 months at the Government House, Gusau, the Zamfara State capital.
