Suspected political thugs have invaded a private media outfit known as Thunder Blower, assaulted staff and destroyed its equipments in Gusau, the Zamfara State capital.

The incident occurred on 4th of January, 2022 at about 8:15pm where the suspected political thugs stormed the premises of the Thunder Blower, attacked the facility and manhandled the nonlinear editor Mansur Rabiu and left him with injuries.

The Managing Editor of the media outfit, Dr. Anas Anka who addressed journalists on the incident, called on the attention of Nigerians, the international community and Civil Society Organizations to note that the present administration in Zamfara State is planning to muscle the freedom of speech and association.

He discloses that the media outfit had reported the matter to all the security agencies in the State and wants them to ensure that the perpetrators of the dastardly act are brought to book to serve as deterrent to others.

Anka alleged that the leader of the suspected political thugs was the person who was responsible for the burning down of parts of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ shops a year ago and the recent invasion of the venue of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP State congress in Gusau, the State capital where vehicle chairs, canopies and other valuables were destroyed.

He also alleged that the mastermind of the irreprehensible acts have been moving around freely with political thugs and dangerous weapons threatening lives of citizens and yet authorities have not done anything to curtail the situation.

The Managing Editor Anas Anka claimed the equipments destroyed were eight desktop computers and three laptop computers, video cameras and server decoder among others were carted away.
