The Theatre Commander of OPFY, Major General O Soyele, has donated 200 bags of fertiliser to farmers in Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

The gesture is part of ongoing efforts by troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA, (OPFY), to ensure lasting peace and stability across the Northwest Zone, as well as parts of North Central,

It is aimed at enhancing the farmers’ yield and would also go a long way in improving the livelihood of the communities within the OPFY Theatre.

The Theatre Commander, represented by the Theatre Logistics Component Commander, Brigadier General Nkemakolam Mbaka handed over the bags of fertiliser to the Emir of Tsafe, Abubakar Bawa, as part of the Theatre’s corporate social responsibility, under the civil-military cooperation initiatives of the Defence Headquarters.

A statement by OPFY Media Information Officer, Captain David Adewusi, said the Theatre Commander further reiterated the importance of the non-kinetic initiative, stating that it would help boost agricultural development, foster civil-military cooperation, and strengthen the farmers’ resolve to return to their farms, amidst ongoing operations, targeted at making farming communities safe.

The Theatre Commander also thanked the Emir of Tsafe, as well as the government and people of Zamfara for their support, in the fight against terrorism and banditry.

He noted that the fertiliser distribution initiative was facilitated by the support received from Army Headquarters, and other services.

He implored the farmers to make the best use of the products, towards ensuring higher yield.

The Emir of Tsafe, Abubakar Bawa, while expressing appreciation to the Theatre Commander, described the gesture as timely, and assured that the inputs would significantly boost food production, and enhance the livelihood of farmers in the area.

He urged his subjects to continue supporting the troops, in the attainment of the OPFY mandate.
