Zamfara security: Police rescue 11 kidnap victims in Bakura, 1 other in Tsafe LGA

Police in Zamfara State say it has rescued 11 kidnap victims in Bakura and 1 person at Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

This is coming through the Police’s ongoing search and rescue operations across the state.

The Police in a statement by the Public Relations Officer, Superintendent Mohammed Shehu said, the 11 victims were abducted on Thursday 12th August at Yarkofoji village, in Bakura Local Government Area of the state by suspected bandits.

The statement said the 11 kidnap victims were rescued unconditionally, without any ransom paid.

It said the police have also succeeded in the unconditional rescue of the Chief Security Officer of the College of Health Technology, Tsafe.

The police noted that the report of his abduction was reported to them, in the early hours of 18th August, when a group of hoodlums went to his house at around 4 pm and abducted him.

The statement further said, the Police search and rescue team, swung into action, by combing the surrounding forest, and the victim was rescued safely.

The search and rescue strategies employed by the Commissioner of Police in Zamfara State, CP Ayuba Elkana, led to the successful rescue of the abducted victims, without any ransom being paid by the relations of the victims.

The Commissioner of Police congratulated the victims for regaining their freedom, and urged them, to always be conscious of their security, and report any suspicious persons to the Police, or any nearest security outfit, for prompt response.

It added, that all the victims were taken to the hospital for medical checks, and later debriefed by the Police, and have been reunited with their families.

The CP further assured the people of the state, about the ongoing efforts of the Command to rescue other victims, currently in captivity, so that lives and property can be adequately protected.
