The Zamfara State Government has made a U-turn on its ban on political activities in the state.
A statement by the state Commissioner for Information, Ibrahim Dosara, noted that the government has also approved the immediate reopening of Gummi, Anka and Bukkuyum Local Governments, as well as all the towns, roads and markets recently closed, due to heightened insecurity, in some parts of the state.

The statement said the decision followed the satisfactory reports received on the security situation in the affected communities.
It is quoted as saying, “Given the above, the government has lifted the embargo it enforced on political activities in the state.”
The State Government, however, advised people to conduct themselves by the rule of law, as it will not condone any act, capable of disrupting the peace and tranquillity, being restored by security operatives.
It noted that the state government will not compromise its constitutional responsibilities to the people of the state.
