Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal has approved the appointment of Retired Brigadier General Abdulkadir Abubakar Gummi as the Acting Chairman of the Security Trust Fund Board of Trustees.
A statement signed by the Secretary to the State government, Abubakar Nakwada notes that the appointment takes immediate effect.
It said the appointment of retired Brigadier General Gummi, by the governor was based on his credentials.
Governor Lawal in the statement expressed confidence that the Security Trust Fund Board of Trustees, under the leadership of Brigadier General Gummi, will realise its central mission of mobilizing the necessary resources to strengthen the security architecture and provide the required support to the security forces to effectively prosecute the fight against banditry and related crimes across the state.
While extending his best wishes to retired Brig. Gen. Abubakar Gummi in his new role, urged all relevant stakeholders to fully support him in realising the goals of the Board.
The Board is expected to begin delivering on its mandate to strengthen the security framework and support security forces in the fight against banditry and other criminalities in all parts of Zamfara State.
Former Inspector General of Police MD Abubakar was the pioneer Chairman of the Zamfara State Security Trust Fund Board of Trustees.
The former IGP was appointed as the Chairman of BOT Zamfara State Security Trust Fund on 7th February 2024.
AIT gathered that the former Nigeria Police boss had a few weeks ago resigned from his position as the chairman of the board after barely a year in office.
