Zamfara State Governor inaugurates 22 man committee against gender based violence

Zamfara State Governor has inaugurated a 22 man committee to campaign against Gender-Based Violence against Women and Children.

The governor charged the committee to discharge their responsibility, to ensure that Gender Based Violence and other forms of abuses are eliminated in the state.

The committee chaired by the First Lady, Aisha Mohammed, is expected to lead the campaign against Gender Based Violence, child abuses and sexual harrasment.

Governor Bello Mohammed said, his government is ever willing to safeguard the lives of its people and promote their wellbeing, by taking decisive steps to bring to an end, the culture of violence against women and children.

According to him, they have suffered displacement and other difficult conditions, as a result of banditry activities in some communities in the state.

He assured that his administration will continue to collaborate with non-governmental groups, to develop the needed synergy, to achieve the desired objective, of creating awareness on the plight of women and children, as well as, fashion out ways of combatting the problems.

The First Lady, Aisha Mohammed, commended the governor for his unflinching support in the fight against gender-based violence against women and children in the state.

She promised to do her best in discharging the responsibility of the 22-member Committee to free the state from all forms of gender-based violence.
