In a decisive move to further strengthen the security architecture of Zamfara State, Governor Dauda Lawal has approved the appointment of a retired Assistant Inspector-General, AIG of Police, Muhammad Shehu Dalijan, as the new Commandant of the Community Protection Guards, CPG.
This was contained in a statement issued by Suleman Ahmed-Tudu, who is the Senior Special Assistant on Media in the Office of the Secretary to the Zamfara State Government, Abubakar Nakwada.
According to the statement, Governor Lawal has also directed a comprehensive overhaul of the Community Protection Guards to address operational and administrative challenges hindering the agency’s optimal performance and effective service delivery.
The newly appointed Commandant is expected to bring over three decades of distinguished experience in policing, security management, and leadership, with a proven track record in community engagement and counter-terrorism operations, particularly within Zamfara State.
Governor Lawal commended the immediate past Commandant, Brigadier-General Lawan Mohammed (Rtd.) for his selfless service to the state, and prayed for his speedy recovery, assuring him of the government’s continued solidarity and support.
