Zamfara State Governor Bello Mohammed has directed the closure of 4 markets in Birnin Magaji and Maru Local Government Areas of the State, with immediate effect.
A public announcement, signed by Secretary to the State Government, Bala Maru, says 3 of the markets are in Birnin Magaji Local Government Area, and one in Maru Local Government Area.

The affected markets include; Sabon Birnin DanAli Thursday Market, Cigama Friday Market, and Kokiya Tuesday Market, all in Birnin Magaji Local Government Area. The fourth market is Dansadau Friday Market, in Maru Local Government Area.
The announcement said the closure of the markets has become necessary to uphold law and order in the affected towns and villages, and their immediate neighbourhoods.
