Zamfara State to conduct cholera vaccination in Shinkafi, Zurmi LGAs

Zamfara State Government has concluded plans to conduct vaccination against Cholera for residents of Shinkafi and Zurmi Local Government Areas of the State to prevent the outbreak of the disease in the state.

The Executive Secretary, Zamfara State Primary Healthcare Board, Tukur Isma’il, made this known while speaking on efforts being made by the state government to curtail the outbreak of cholera in the state.

Shinkafi and Zurmi Local Government Areas of Zamfara State are the frontlines of banditry activities in the state with several communities displaced as a result.

This perhaps made the two local councils the high-risk areas of Cholera outbreak in the state.

Isma’il explained that the state government in collaboration with its partners had planned to give vaccination to the residents of Shinkafi and Zurmi Local Government Areas of the state, against the disease to stem its outbreak.

He added that the state government is focusing its attention on areas that are vulnerable to outbreaks of the disease which explained the plans to administer the vaccine in Shinkafi and Zurmi Local Government Areas first, before the other local government areas.

Isma’il emphasized the need for the residents of Zamfara State to imbibe the attitude of keeping a clean environment, regular handwashing after using the toilet before and after eating and personal hygiene practices.
